Workshop for teachers suggests maybe they don't just teach critical race theory in law school

Critical race theory has been an interesting fight to watch, with a peculiar set of talking points. Among them, and one we saw in the replies to any post on critical race theory, is that it’s only taught in law schools. No K-12 school teaches critical race theory. If that’s true, why are you so opposed to banning it, since it’s not there anyway? Because without critical race theory, teachers will omit slavery from the history curriculum so as not to make white students feel guilty. But no one’s omitting slavery or Jim Crow from the curriculum either; read the bills supposedly “banning” it.

This editor has always maintained that K-12 public schools don’t teach a course called, “Critical Race Theory.” Rather, teachers and administrators are indoctrinated in it through workshops and then encouraged to integrate the lessons they’ve learned into their curriculum, like having students fill out “privilege” worksheets and then ranking themselves from oppressed to oppressor.

James Lindsay, who’s been reinstated to Twitter after being banned, pulled up this advertisement for a workshop called “Demystifying CRT: Teaching Critical Race Theory in K-12 Classrooms.”

“Join us for a workshop on how to incorporate Critical Race Theory in K-12 classrooms,” according to the Liberated Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum.

That gets cut off, but the bottom reads, “Different people do different things and have different feelings. It’s so important that we have lots of different kinds of people in our community and that everyone feels safe.”

We did a post on that NBC News tweet, which fails to mention that the school board immediately hired … a black superintendent to replace the black superintendent.

We’ve seen so many of these workshops in school districts around the country. The idea that CRT isn’t taught in public schools is ludicrous.
