Here’s something interesting. The police officer from the Ontario Provincial Police was nothing but courteous and just wanted to drop off some information about peaceful protesting. The police officer did this at a woman’s home after seeing her active in a pro-Freedom Convoy Facebook group. Apparently, the police have something called Provincial Liaison Teams who try to resolve conflicts at major events, and this was just a PLT member using “proactive relationship-building and communication to facilitate safe and lawful environments for everyone wanting to exercise the rights to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly.”

The officer was professional and courteous and nothing she told the woman was incorrect. My concern with this doesn't lie in the content of the conversation, but its existence.
— Andrew Lawton (@AndrewLawton) February 12, 2022
Agreed. The police are just being “proactive”? Is there a violent protest we don’t know about?
When the police knock on your door to tell you about a protest they know you're going to be at because they were monitoring Facebook, what they're really doing is saying "We know who you are and we're watching you."
— Andrew Lawton (@AndrewLawton) February 12, 2022
There's a difference between protest organizers liaising with police (as is common with any events) and police preemptively canvassing people because they were reading their Facebook posts and want to cloak this surveillance with seemingly benign "information."

It's intimidation plain and simple. This is one step before thought crimes.

Intimidation, but softened b/c of a petite officer with a pony tail.
"Hi, I'm, like, Becky. I'm, like, with the OPP. Did you, like, umm, 'like' some things on Facebook? Well, you know, umm, like, here's some info so that you don't, umm, like, do any more wrongthink. Bye-bye!"

Notice how they almost ALWAYS send in the female officers? If there’s a male officer as “backup” he usually hangs back, looking slightly sheepish.

Which leads to the question, how did they know who said what on what platform? If one of the neighbors didn't snitch, then the OPP, and most likely other police agencies, have complete access to and are spying on residents of this country. #OverReach

I don’t think it had the effect of ‘building a relationship’

Pure INTIMIDATION

100% would be ok if they were just handing out pamphlets to ALL residents in nearby towns of expected protests but targeting certain persons in a social media group is trying to intimidate even if she was professional.

Under the guise of "safety"these public servants are violating rights, and spying on private Canadian citizens without justification. It's seems all that is required is to utter the phrase "it's for safety" and it negates all legal requirements? This abuse of power needs to end.

Yup, anything goes now "for the greater good", including spying and blatant intimidation.
Our compliance brought us to this. It has to stop.— UnacceptableSilverFox 🍁 (@Cdn_Eliana) February 12, 2022
They make it sound so benign when it’s anything but.

Add "proactive contact" to the lexicon of Newspeak.

Pure intimidation. Plain and simple.

So they essentially admit to spying on public platforms ie social media.

Yeah right. Could have sent a message. Showing up at your door for saying something on the Internet is new level overreach however you spin it.

Nothing says proactive "relationship building" to facilitate the safe expression of free speech and assembly, by having a cop show up at your door, and suggesting , you might want to rethink your social media posts.

It is not the job of the police to facilitate our acces to our rights and freedoms. It is our job as citizens to take control of our rights. The minute the police start to tell you how you are allowed to use those rights you no longer have them

Sure didn’t stop the tearing down of statues, burning of churches, vandalized business, looting, assaulting police. But Trudeau likes to work with them, just like he said 3 weeks ago about BLM and where BLM goes antifa follows.

This reminds us of CNN ambushing an elderly woman in her driveway because she shared a Facebook post that was supposedly Russian disinformation.
