Gingrich has been a pretty steadfast supporter of Donald Trump, but apparently he draws the line at “Trumpcare.” Or is it “Ryancare” in this case?
Why would you schedule a vote on a bill that is at 17% approval? Have we forgotten everything Reagan taught us?
— Newt Gingrich (@newtgingrich) March 24, 2017
Or, at least, he draws the line after he’s had seven hours to think about it:

When Donald Trump threatened to keep Obamacare in place if the House failed to pass the AHCA, was that Reaganesque?
Now we remember Reagan. https://t.co/7YMooSp7lM

You forgot Reagan when you supported Trump.

It does seem notable that Gingrich’s earlier tweet praised Trump by name, but his tweet criticizing the AHCA doesn’t mention Trump at all.
Seven hours ago, you said it would be Trump's triumph if it passes. Now, it's Ryan's fault if it tanks?

In any event, Gingrich can’t really do much to influence what happens with the AHCA from where he’s sitting. But will he make any headway with his friend Donald and convince the president to give the House more time to come up with something else?
