This reeks of scrambling for an angle to rescue a lame piece
— Allahpundit (@allahpundit) November 30, 2016
Cowardly response. I expected nothing more.

As Twitchy told you, BuzzFeed’s taking a major beating over its ridiculous exposé on “Fixer Upper” hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines’ pastor believing that homosexuality is a sin. Because apparently we’re all supposed to be shocked that a Christian would hold traditional Christian views.
Well, anyway, BuzzFeed’s editor in chief Ben Smith finally started responding to the some of criticism on Twitter:
(1) Target popular couple.
(2) Fail to ascertain their views.
(3) Publish piece anyway. How is this legitimate reporting @BuzzFeedBen? https://t.co/Ffp9dwUF6f
— Gabriel Malor (@gabrielmalor) November 30, 2016
@PaulSzoldra you believe that if someone declines to comment after extensive effort, that should shut down a story?
— Ben Smith (@BuzzFeedBen) November 30, 2016
Help me out here @BuzzFeedBen, I can't find the article where you guys did this to the cast of "All-American Muslim" https://t.co/vOLe6Yw428
— John Tabin (@johntabin) November 30, 2016
@LouiseMensch HGTV wouldn't answer @KateAurthur Q of whether same-sex couples are barred from show. Maybe you can get them to?
— Ben Smith (@BuzzFeedBen) November 30, 2016
or do you think that's not a legitimate question? And John — I usually turn to RT for whataboutism!
— Ben Smith (@BuzzFeedBen) November 30, 2016
Who does Ben turn to when he’s sinking deeper and deeper into a hole of his own making?
https://twitter.com/PaulSzoldra/status/804035030335029250
This is a story about a big company, HGTV, refusing to say whether they ban LGBT people from a TV show. They should just answer the question https://t.co/rxsbfV11mb
— Ben Smith (@BuzzFeedBen) November 30, 2016
Here’s a question for you, Ben: How stupid do you think we are?
Are you for real? https://t.co/rRKIYYOBX3
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) November 30, 2016
No way was Kate Aurthur’s post anything other than a hit piece bathed in bigotry — and Ben knows it.
https://twitter.com/EWErickson/status/804103322546405376
No it isn't. Nice try. It's a hit piece against uppity Christians. Can't let them get too well known and respected. https://t.co/ybSqpJxTLE

This is not even remotely how this story is framed and you damn well know it. This isn't even a good cop-out. https://t.co/zGlH7iJ8PA

I always address what the story is all about in two sentences in the fourth paragraph too
— IWantNothingHat (@Popehat) November 30, 2016
Pretty standard to ask company whether they share the views of a church two employees attend
— Chance Gardener (@ChanceBGardener) November 30, 2016
.@BuzzFeedBen You went after a Pastor that has nothing to do with the TV show.
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) November 30, 2016
"I want to know if HGTV bans gay people so we talked to someone completely unaffiliated with HGTV" @BuzzFeedBen
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) November 30, 2016
This is so fucking lame. It's a goddamn witch hunt. https://t.co/DK2uRMMmwm
— Beef Supreme (@Supreme____Beef) November 30, 2016
By all means, Ben. Keep this crap up. Keep it up and see where it gets you.
This is a story about a despised internet company, BuzzFeed, trolling for hate clicks, with the benefit of hurting a hate object. https://t.co/ERonkh1yuQ

And a parting question for Mr. Smith:
Ben, do any of your employees attend a church that opposes SSM?
— Chance Gardener (@ChanceBGardener) November 30, 2016
Let’s go, Ben. We’re waiting …
