This is what democracy looks like? High schoolers march through DC, hold sit-in to protest free election

On Tuesday, hundreds of high school students from the Washington, D.C., public schools took their turn to walk out of class to protest the results of the presidential election, marching from the new Trump Hotel to the Lincoln Memorial to the White House, accompanied by teachers and administrators.

Look how angry these students are; the results of the election have truly enraged them.

Serious question: just how much of a protest walk-out is this if the students are accompanied by school administrators, who say they have a plan in place to escort the students and return them to school safely? There doesn’t seem to be much risk in walking out of school if your teacher comes along with you; that’s a field trip, not a student walk-out.

We would have sworn democracy looked a little more like the photos we saw last week of adults standing in line to vote.
