President who orders airlines to reduce emissions blows nearly $900,000 on jet fuel for Earth Day event

As Twitchy reported earlier this month, the president who’s been reported to fly his wife to New York City on Air Force One for date night (flanked by two additional jets for staff and reporters) will direct the EPA to regulate airplane emissions, claiming they are a threat to human health because they contribute to global warming.

The Washington Examiner today reports that the president’s Earth Day attack on climate change deniers, delivered with Florida’s Everglades as a backdrop, cost taxpayers $866,615 in jet fuel for Air Force One alone. Security, communications and staff easily bumped the price over $1 million.

Judicial Watch, which uncovered the costs, seemed to agree with the New York Times that the president chose to fly to Florida to deliver his Earth Day speech to put pressure on Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio to address climate change:

“The irony of using Air Force One for an unnecessary jaunt to discuss global warming aside, these documents show that taxpayers are being gouged for President Obama’s abuse of the perks of office,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Taxpayers should not be forced to foot the bill for his continual savaging of political opponents,” he added.

Does anyone even remember his speech?
