Leavitt Behind: Trump’s Young Press Secretary Explains Why She Ditched Her Binder After One Briefing

AP Photo/Evan Vucci

If you’re like me you have been impressed by almost all of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet and White House member selections. It’s in stark contrast to the players he hastily assembled for his first term. One of the most inspiring members so far is White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. I watched her first press briefing and noticed a confidence and poise you rarely see in a 27-year-old. Did I mention she’s the youngest press secretary in White House history?

One thing I noticed in her first briefing was a very large binder. By her second briefing, the binder was gone. Now we know why. We'll get to that reason in just a moment. But first, here are some brief excerpts from an interview she just did with Megyn Kelly. (READ)

"I want to just go in there and speak from my mind and from my heart. Like my boss."

"The first briefing I was certainly nervous I think any human would. I'm not afraid to admit that."

"Once I got up there, I realized, okay, like, I can do this. I know what I need to know. And, now I feel very, you know, comfortable and confident."

"I will never get complacent because I understand the weight of the responsibility on my shoulders speaking on behalf of the president of the United States."

Here’s the longer exchange where Leavitt explains why she ditched the binder. (WATCH)

That’s what I also said. The binder is like a security blanket or training wheels. It makes you look unprepared and not truly well-versed in your subject matter. Former President Joe Biden’s press secretary always looked amateurish relying on her binder.

I’m also floored by how well Leavitt handles ‘journalists’. She is fearless and not afraid to call out their nonsense to their faces. These comments show I’m not the only one taking notice.

These ‘journalists’ who slept through the last four years have been activated again now that a Democrat is no longer in the White House. Leavitt handles them with no difficulty. She is easily one of Trump’s best choices.
