On Sunday night, 60 Minutes pushed out a sob story piece on USAID federal workers who are being let go as President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and DOGE scale back the bloated size of the government and eliminate wasteful spending of our tax dollars. I wasn’t surprised (and neither should you be) that this ‘journalistic’ slop was nothing but Democrat Party propaganda.

Elon Musk quickly joined the chorus of X users pointing out the lies the CBS ‘News’ mainstay was pushing. These employees were all offered eight months of severance pay and benefits. This highlighted that Kristina Drye was lying for the cameras.
Several posters researched Drye. It turns out she’s a longtime speechwriter for President Joe Biden’s USAID administrator, Samantha Power. What a coincidence! Here’s lots of receipts.

I used to be a TV news producer. These are all details Scott Pelley should have made viewers aware of upfront. Presenting her as some random federal employee is dishonest, deceptive, and unethical. Not that these are things CBS ‘News’ cares about these days.

These were the same people complaining about the crops wasting in the fields because Trump is deporting all the illegals. Well, it looks like there's a lot of job openings for them. They can pick the crops, do landscaping, be the maid, etc.

Home Depot is hiring. I worked there between good paying career jobs once. And in a general store frying burgers between a couple other corporate gigs. Blips that weren't a lot of fun but built character and brought some $ in the door.

Private sector layoffs are a fact of life. We budget and plan ahead because we know nothing is guaranteed. Many of us still remember how blue state governors used COVID to destroy our livelihoods. I know I haven’t forgotten that tyranny and neither have these commenters.
That’s life. Think of all those people laid off during COVID because of blue state governors and Biden. Where was the care? The worry? The nightly interviews with small business owners?

If you’re looking for empathy for federal workers you’re not going to find it in the flyover states. You’re just not. The fact that 60 Minutes is lying to us to get us to care only toughens our resolve. These laid-off Democrats will just have to find work in the private sector like the rest of us. They need to update their resumes. The ‘journalists’ at 60 Minutes and CBS ‘News’ would be wise to do the same. Try not to lie while doing it.
