Newsweek reached into the bottom of the barrel for evidence that 'Ron DeSantis is the worst candidate'

I meant to get to this last week, but the Supreme Court had other ideas. Fantastic ideas, mind you. But non-SCOTUS stuff kind of got relegated to the back burner.

Now that SCOTUS Days are behind us and we're coming up on Independence Day, things have slowed down a bit (temporarily, anyway) and I can finally talk about Newsweek's dumb hit on Ron DeSantis. And when I say dumb, I mean really, really dumb.

It's no big secret that liberals and the mainstream media (yeah, I know, I know ... technically the term "liberals" includes the mainstream media) are terrified of Ron DeSantis as Florida Governor and even more terrified of Ron DeSantis as potential POTUS. But Newsweek really had to scrape the bottom of the barrel for this:

"The worst candidate I've ever seen."

That's huge news, according to Newsweek. Worth an entire article. So obviously this "former GOP strategist" must be somebody really high up, really major, just absolutely bursting with clout, right? Who is this powerful, powerful man who had Ron DeSantis so brutally pegged?

You're getting warmer ...

Hey, not just any "senior adviser at The Lincoln Project." Jeff Timmer. Jeff Effing Timmer! The same Jeff Timmer who took a weird swipe at Lauren Boebert's "small penis." The same Jeff Timmer who, as Newsweek reminds us, hasn't actually been a Republican in any capacity in quite some time:

Prior to his work on The Lincoln Project, Timmer spent 30 years working in various aspects of the Republican Party, including serving as an adviser to former Ohio Governor John Kasich's 2016 presidential campaign, and as executive director of the Michigan Republican Party.

Timmer is also the co-founder of the Republicans and Independents for Biden campaign group.

The Lincoln Project. John Kasich's 2016 presidential campaign. Republicans and Independents for Biden. Now, I have no doubt that Jeff Timmer was among the best that Newsweek could find in their quest for a "Republican" who loathes Ron DeSantis. Maybe Donald Trump himself wasn't available, but that's OK, because Timmer et al. are basically Trump surrogates at this point anyway. They want Trump to be the nominee because that'll keep the money flowing in and DeSantis will throw a huge wrench in their financial pipeline.

Jeff Timmer and The Lincoln Project are jokes. And so is Newsweek for acting like what Jeff Timmer and The Lincoln Project think or say even matters. Timmer et al. have no moral leg to stand on, and neither does Newsweek.

So point and laugh at all of them. Because our derision is what they have earned, and it's what they deserve.

"Group of dudes who defended serial sexual predator of young men John Weaver doesn't like Ron DeSantis" definitely isn't the anti-DeSantis message Newsweek thinks it is.

If Ron DeSantis ultimately doesn't prevail in his presidential race, it definitely won't be because of this garbage from Newsweek and The Lincoln Project. And if he does, well, I hope he gives them both a shout-out during his victory speech.
