Oxfam thought it was wise to mark Pride Month with nasty depiction of J.K. Rowling (they were wrong)

J.K. Rowling has been trending on Twitter today. So, what’s she done to deserve it this time?

Apparently, her latest crime is merely existing. Thanks to the fact that she is a real person who has real opinions about things, she’s managed to land herself smack-dab in the center of Oxfam’s Axis of Evil.

Oxfam, for those not familiar with their mission, “is a global organization that fights inequality to end poverty and injustice.” And for Oxfam, it seems that one of the most effective ways to fight inequality to end injustice is to demonize a woman who has braved blacklists and death threats in order to defend womanhood. Despite claiming to care very deeply about women’s rights and gender justice, Oxfam is evidently a lot more committed to the “gender justice” part. That’s why, in honor of Pride Month, Oxfam has launched a #ProtectThePride campaign, featuring a video in which a cartoon version of J.K. Rowling makes a key cameo:

Did you catch her there? You won’t, because that’s the updated version of the video. Here’s what it originally looked like:

That 0:14 mark is really something, isn’t it? If only Oxfam had been quicker on the memory-hole flusher! Too bad.

Andy Ngô’s name is one of those that have been bandied about as being depicted by the guy on the left.

Oxfam depicting Ngô as a racist caricature sounds about right, doesn’t it? The guy on the left, whoever he is, looks like he got similar treatment.

Great work all around, Oxfam.

That’s nice. Never mind that J.K. Rowling has never said or done anything that could be considered by anyone remotely intellectually honest to be transphobic.

This kind of garbage is nothing new for Rowling, unfortunately. The silver lining is that she is apparently the person that angers Oxfam the most, which means she’s doing something right. And it only makes us respect her more.

As for Oxfam, well …

Anything to distract from the moral rot within their own organization:

We’ll take J.K. Rowling over Oxfam every day and twice on Sundays.
