Annnnnd we're back: NYT trumpets news that 'study finds' masking in schools could be the way forward

Conservatives and Republicans were counting on the GOP to win big on Election Day, thanks in no small part to the Democratic Party managing to do just about everything wrong when it came to both foreign and domestic policy. And maybe if Donald Trump would’ve just stayed out of the primaries and the final races, the GOP might’ve fared better. All we can do is speculate at this point.

Anyway, the Democrats didn’t get clobbered the way they deserved to get clobbered. And you can be sure that the liberal media is going to capitalize on that.

The New York Times is already off to a running start:

Well, well, well … would you look at that?

Roni Caryn Rabin writes:

Opponents of masking in schools have criticized the data on its effectiveness, but they have also raised other concerns.

Masking may cause communication problems and delays in speech development, may be particularly onerous for children with learning disabilities and makes it difficult to read or communicate emotional expressions, critics have said.

“Critics have said.” Critics have said that because it’s true, dammit.

More:

But a Boston parents’ group, BPS Families for Covid Safety, has already called for reinstating of universal masking in schools, saying that the new study provides evidence that the practice protects against both illness and lost days of learning in a district where vaccination rates are relatively low and families come from communities that have suffered disproportionately during the pandemic.
At the very least, universal masking should be implemented if an outbreak occurs at the school or in the larger community, and after students return from vacations, which often involve traveling and family gatherings, said Sarah Horsley, a co-founder of the group and a parent of a fourth-grader.

Literally no one is telling Sarah Horsley — or any parent — that their kids can’t wear masks. You wanna mask up your kid? Go right ahead. And if your kid wants to wear a mask? Well, that’s even better for you. But this mandate stuff is ridiculous.

And we see exactly through what media like the New York Times are doing.

It was inevitable. But still. We wanted to believe there was a chance it wouldn’t happen.

It takes a special kind of sickness to hide behind The Science™ to keep screwing over kids who have already been screwed enough.
