Max Boot says 'Ukraine needs Western warplanes and Western volunteers to fly them,' does not volunteer his own services

The Supreme Court may be handing down rulings today, but they’re not the only ones.

The Washington Post’s Max Boot is issuing some rulings of his own, and they’re to be taken just as seriously as anything SCOTUS says.

Like this one, for example:

So let it be written, so let it be done!

We’re being facetious, of course. Max Boot’s columns are as consequential as … well, as Jennifer Rubin’s columns. Which is to say that the only thing they’re actually good for is birdcage liner and comedic material. Especially the latter, because Max is being 110% serious when he says that “Western volunteers” should be flying “Western warplanes” for Ukraine.

Calling to help equip the Ukrainian military with “Western” artillery is one thing. But calling for “Western” volunteers to use that artillery against Russia is quite another.

That does seem to be what Max Boot is calling for.

If Boot is serious about this, he’s more than free to volunteer his own services, which are no doubt of tremendous value.

There’s not a moment to waste!

Max Boot is nothing if not stunning and brave.

That’s indeed the issue. As David Harsanyi noted above, Boot stops just short of calling for the U.S. to deploy our military might in Ukraine. Boot is conflating concern for the Ukrainian people — which is entirely valid — with military involvement and escalation into full-scale world war.

You go right on ahead, Max. We’ll stay here and cheer you on.
