Antisemitism has been on the rise in the U.S. again, but let’s not forget that it’s been extremely popular in Europe for quite some time.
Let’s take a look at what happened to a fan of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club who brought an Israeli flag to a game:
Video of a Spurs fan being told he'll be ejected by @SpursOfficial stewards unless he takes down his Israel flag.
Other flags are ok though as the rest of this thread shows. pic.twitter.com/M7Q9KAKsig

“This isn’t the time or the place for you to be using that flag.” That flag.

The Israel flag is being singled out by @SpursOfficial

What is it about That Flag that’s so much more offensive than other flags?

This was my recording btw. Those saying there was people with a flag behind us. We gave them the flag because we were told we can have it and the people behind us wanted it instead so we didn’t get kicked out. They eventually also had to have the flag taken down.

These flags didn’t get taken down:

So it's ok for high profile players then @FA #doublestandards pic.twitter.com/B3k1sA5XQr

The FA allowed a Pal flag on the pitch at the cup final. They provide a free flag for every seat at FA cup finals too. Every stadium allows national or club flags at any game too. The evidence suggests its just one flag that is not allowed.

This isn’t a great look.
So hang on, Spurs can chant 'yid army' but they can't have the Israeli flag? pic.twitter.com/FZ71G67F1U

Or an actual ‘yid army’ of supporters

Absolutely disgusting behaviour by @SpursOfficial …I have more of a problem with this than use of "the Y word". This shows absolute disrespect for your Jewish fans.
— Steve Graniewitz (@SteveGraniewitz) May 20, 2021
This is poor. We have a large number of Jewish supporters at the club and now the Star of David flag is banned after so many years? No consistency here when we see other flags being waved at football grounds.
Our club has really lost the plot with our fans lately.— Crackerjackpencilandpen (@marceljonmoss) May 20, 2021
Disgraceful especially as Spurs traditionally supported by Jews.
— Dax (@holdenlily) May 20, 2021
Nothing to see here, just a Jewish state being singled out again for unique treatment!@SpursOfficial this is disgraceful antisemitismhttps://t.co/MejvwWGipD

For what it’s worth, the Football Association says they don’t have any policy restricting the display of national flags:

Thanks. I will keep that handy when I take my Israel flag to Arsenal on Sunday!
