LeBron James could’ve waited until all of the facts game out before weighing in on the Ma’Khia Bryant shooting. He wouldn’t’ve had to wait for very long.
Instead, he chose to do what so many others for whom narrative matters more than truth did and poured more gasoline on the fire:
.@KingJames has since deleted this but when do we hold him #accountable for dumb tweets like this pic.twitter.com/BepUhGaReE

Well, now that he’s had some more time to reflect on that, he’s come to regret his decision.
OK, he sort of regrets it. In a way:
LeBron James: I fueled 'wrong conversation' with Ma'Khia Bryant tweet https://t.co/iM0sa6NXSh pic.twitter.com/IC0q1yGhAL

Here’s what he tweeted:
I fueled the wrong conversation about Ma’Khia Bryant and I owe it to her and this movement to change it. Thank you @fabiolacineas for educating us about Ma’Khia and her story and why this needs to be about her. https://t.co/Owh1vDJWXi #sayhername #Blacklivesmatter

Apparently the right conversation in LeBron James’ mind is the one that focuses on … Bryant’s victimhood?
He admits to fueling the wrong conversation, then proceeds to tweet a really ignorant piece that frames a knife-wielding aggressor as an innocent victim. https://t.co/LWNlAiAK8v

I love this part. Yes, her wielding a knife and actively trying to stab another girl is a pretty important caveat.
None of these people care about defending or protecting the life of the Black girl Bryant was about to stab. pic.twitter.com/YgmRPKB2ur

When does LeBron James want to have a conversation about Ma’Khia Bryant’s intended victim?
Notice that @KingJames isn’t man enough to apologize to the cop that saved a young black girls life . You are no king https://t.co/GxydUs9qR9
— Dr. Mark Young (@MarkYoungTruth) May 6, 2021
Is this an apology? Because it doesn’t feel like one.

As apologies go, that one missed the basket.

In other words “I lied and created an even bigger problem but won’t own up to it”.

Criticism aside, LeBron will likely emerge from this whole debacle unscathed (or uninjured, much like when he flops).
Lebron James tweeting Vox is a marvel movie of wrongness. Everyone knows it's bad but they'll still shrug and say okay. https://t.co/deoPzcuco0
