As our readers are no doubt well aware, there’s no love lost between us and Chris Cuomo. That said, Donald Trump’s take on Cuomo’s anger at being approached by a stranger and called “Fredo” is decidedly … not helpful:
Would Chris Cuomo be given a Red Flag for his recent rant? Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn’t be allowed to have any weapon. He’s nuts!

Come on, man.
This is like a parody of what opponents of red flag laws say they're worried about https://t.co/5ojHrCJTep

It’s not unlikely that Trump’s tweet was an attempt at a joke, but when push comes to shove, red flag laws aren’t all that funny.
With one Tweet POTUS explains how red flag laws can and will be abused. https://t.co/3W4J6JQl9f

Yeah, man, that's not how red flag laws are supposed to work. And if that's how they work, there shouldn't be red flag laws. https://t.co/4EqkvcObOW

HEY! @realDonaldTrump the unconstitutional red flag law is nothing to joke about! This for many Americans is the line in the sand! NO to the red flag law! It will be missused!

We don’t take people’s guns away for bad language nor because we just don’t like them. ??. This, this right here is why red flag laws are a mistake. Joke or not. https://t.co/RFYhQaxBwM

President Trump tweeting that somebody could have their guns taken away from them under a theoretical federal red flag law for getting into a shouting match with with an antagonistic stranger isn't going to help proponents pass one even if he is joking.

I mean, it strikes right at the core concern of opponents of red flag laws: vindictive people operating in bad faith will abuse them and without substantial due process protections they'll be successful at doing so.

And this, right here, is why I’m ultimately against Red Flag laws. https://t.co/Gu164hMjV3
— The H2 (@TheH2) August 13, 2019
This right here is why red flag laws are complete bs.
