As Twitchy told you earlier, assistant state’s attorney Joe Magats revealed that he ultimately made the decision to drop the charges against Jussie Smollett not because the evidence against Smollett wasn’t compelling, but because Smollett wasn’t “a threat to public safety” and had agreed to do community service and forfeit his bond.
So, what sort of community service did Smollett do that helped convince Magats to let him off the hook?

"volunteer service in the community"
Not mentioned… that "volunteer service in the community" was at @RevJJackson's own Rainbow/PUSH organization. https://t.co/PRs9DqnSEv

Jussie Smollett did community service at Rainbow PUSH Saturday/Monday for about 16 hours total.
Charges dropped Tuesday.
That along with a forfeit of his $10k bond was enough to drop the charges according to State’s Attorney. @cbschicago pic.twitter.com/dgX4p2Wqyc

He worked in bookstores, sold merchandise. Stuffed envelopes. Spoke to students. Talked to musical director about expanding choir. Helped in video dept and offered critique. “He was very accessible” PUSH says.

Isn’t it, though?
People wanna focus on the waste of police resources in a murder-infested city, but they don’t wanna talk about how taxpayers got 8 FREE hours of broadcast studio critique. https://t.co/8R3H2N2z2O

I had to do 100 in high school just because I was a high school student! I didn’t even commit a crime!
— Chris DeShong (@ChrisDRacing) March 26, 2019
*THAT* was his "community service" in this case? And how does one perform community service before being sentenced to do same? The answer is that none of it counts.
— Jazz Shaw (@JazzShaw) March 26, 2019
Correct.
This is getting worse by the second
