Earlier this morning, Megyn Kelly registered her disgust at Samantha Bee for calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless c*nt”:
This is disgusting. How is this acceptable? And how are we expected to take any of these publications seriously if they gleefully repost something like this at the same time they (rightfully) condemn @therealroseanne? You know the saying Love is Love? Well Hate is Hate. https://t.co/YTjmZQ4zMV
— Megyn Kelly (@megynkelly) May 31, 2018
Kelly was right to be disgusted, of course. What Samantha Bee said was indeed disgusting.
But Kirsten Powers seems to think Kelly’s making too big a deal out of Bee’s vulgarity, because Roseanne:
Has anyone else noticed how fast a story about a major network star invoking an age-old dehumanizing tactic used to cast black people as sub-human or not even human (child of an ape) has been replaced by rage over a white girl being insulted by a comedian? https://t.co/AjRlchfuf4
— Kirsten Powers (@KirstenPowers) May 31, 2018
Wow, Kirsten. When you put it like that … your take is still totally asinine.
That tends to happen when the first story resulted in an attempt to erase said offender entirely, while the second receives an award. This isn't hard to understand….

There does seem to be at least a glimmer of a double standard here.
Not really. Big reach there Kirsten.
— USA?? (@neworderguy) May 31, 2018
They're both gross, so no.
— Eileen (@CatDogPerson) May 31, 2018
How about we talk about both being wrong, shall we?
— Helen Wheels (@txtiger1) May 31, 2018
Both situations are hateful.
— Harlee Quinn (@HarleeQuinn09) May 31, 2018
This is a crock. Nothing has been replaced. Both were disgraceful attempts to humiliate people the speakers disagree with by using horrible language
— Still normal (@normal_still) May 31, 2018
Wow, what an intellectually dishonest tweet. Just the mere fact that you labeled Samantha Bee as a “comedian” insulting a “white girl” shows your dishonesty and bias. Using your own logic, Roseanne is a “comedian” insulting a “black girl”. So everything is fine. #Hack
— Liberal Logic (@Liberal_Logic) May 31, 2018
What are you saying? White girls should just take it when they're called the c-word by comedians? Get out of the way to serve a greater good of social justice, race?
— JG (@JohnG405) May 31, 2018
Can't we be outraged by both? Isn't "c***" the misogynist version of "a**"? And why is Samantha Bee a comedian, while Roseanne is a star? Are you trying to give Samantha more leeway? Isn't Roseanne a comedian, too? I really don't understand where you are going w/ this tweet.

It hasn't been replaced. We can look at both with disdain.
— Brian Gutherman (@NJNuke) May 31, 2018
We can do both. We're Americans. https://t.co/S9nOrdcD0s
— Nathan, son of Robert (@NathanWurtzel) May 31, 2018
Damn straight.

Odd response. If you wanna defend Bee, just gave the guts to be upfront and do it.

Seriously.
She's generally intelligent and reasoned with her commentary. Today she earns dumbest take of the day. https://t.co/OI17rHjPl3
— Rusty Weiss ??? (@rustyweiss74) May 31, 2018
This may be the dumbest thing you have ever written. And I used to be a fan.
— Chris Christensen (@dwc8647) May 31, 2018
***
Update:
Turns out there was more where that came from:
I love @iamsambee but don’t love gendered attacks like calling a woman the c word (even by comedians who I give extra leeway to).
Tho it’s pretty rich to watch the same ppl who call ‘grab them by the p’ “locker room talk’ fulminating over this.
— Kirsten Powers (@KirstenPowers) May 31, 2018
FFS, Kirsten. Plenty of people disgusted by Bee’s remarks were also disgusted by Trump’s remarks. Many of those people are even conservatives!

If it weren't for double standards, many leftists would have no standards at all.

Intellectual honesty is pretty great, Kirsten. You should try it sometime.
