Here’s how the Drudge Report headlined an article about John McCain and Donald Trump:
McCain Fight of His Life…
— DRUDGE REPORT (@DRUDGE_REPORT) August 29, 2016
John McCain’s daughter Meghan has some thoughts about that:
.@DRUDGE_REPORT Um, the fight of his life was when he was captured and imprisoned for 5.5 years, but go with this obnoxious headline…
— Meghan McCain (@MeghanMcCain) August 29, 2016
Dang.
An entirely appropriate mic drop https://t.co/eG7MsNG57I

Credit where credit is due: McCain makes a good point.
Now, it’s important to note that while the Washington Post’s current headline for the article Drudge links to currently reads “John McCain is in the fight of his political life in the age of Donald Trump,” here’s how it read earlier today:
John McCain is in the fight of his life in the age of Donald Trump https://t.co/q9Y7tBgUKR
— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) August 29, 2016
They altered their headline after others made a similar point to Meghan McCain’s:
I imagine that being a prisoner of war was really the "fight of his life."

@pkcapitol
No this is not the "fight of his life." This is just politics.@SenJohnMcCain has been thru worse than this.— Tom B (@TBro_6and12) August 29, 2016

Thanks for noting this. Headline has been changed.

But while the WaPo changed their headline, several hours after the change, Drudge’s version remained, prompting sympathy for McCain and her father:
boom. i still remember your dad's speech at the 2008 convention about his time as a pow. i watch it at east once a year.

except for that whole Hanoi Vietnam episode, then yes the "fight" of his life

Your father went through hell. Sane, good people understand that.

serriously ridiculous. Have some respect @DRUDGE_REPORT!

It looks like Drudge took notice:
That’s better.
