In just a few moments, @GovernorPerry will pull out of race. Too bad. Very good man.

Life isn't fair: Perry was a better candidate than any of the frontrunners. But he could never shake 2012. https://t.co/aaJPZwc9u3

Rick Perry is a casualty of a race where the base and media favored celebrity and insanity over substance and record. It's a true disgrace.

Sad to see @GovernorPerry out of the race. The conversation was better with him in it.

Too bad. A casualty of the modern reality that campaigning well and governing well are two very different things. https://t.co/c3ilIYyyR3

The record is real and @GovernorPerry showed true character throughout this campaign. No jokes from me: he did right by Texas. Thanks, RP.

And then there were 16. @GovernorPerry, a very good man, by the way, drops out of the running. Not the last we'll hear from him. I'm sure.

.@GovernorPerry was a better governor than most governors and a truly fine human being to boot. Looking forward to seeing what he does next.
