'Cred-O-Meter Reading: DEAD': PolitiFact's B.S. 'apology' to @JonahNRO, @KevinNR

As Twitchy reported, PolitiFact’s Louis Jacobson made a colossal jackwagon of himself when he went ahead with a “fact-checking” article based on work by Jonah Goldberg and Kevin Williamson — without actually bothering to follow up on half-assed “inquiries” to Goldberg and Williamson.

This afternoon, after hours of sound verbal beatings, PolitiFact finally acknowledged their mistake. Well, sort of:

We didn’t meet our standards for contacting @JonahNRO and @KevinNR on a recent fact-check, and we are sorry. Details: http://t.co/6V4el8hbr5

— PolitiFact (@PolitiFact) February 25, 2015

And just to show how “sorry” they are, they amended the article with this:

Sorry, PolitiFact, but that kiss doesn’t make it all better:

@PolitiFact I rate the apology Half-Acceptable. @Heminator @JonahNRO @KevinNR

@PolitiFact Considering how much lower your standards are than the those of the rest of us, that's pretty bad indeed. @JonahNRO @KevinNR

@PolitiFact This tweet does not affect my finding your statement about @JonahNRO and @KevinNR was Pants on Fire false.

Last word to Jonah Goldberg:

Rarely have I been more annoyed by criticism that matters so little. #politifact

— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahDispatch) February 25, 2015

Fortunately, Goldberg, unlike PolitiFact, is a professional — and he handled it like one:

In which @JonahNRO dismantles & embarrasses left-leaning "fact-checker" @Politifact –> http://t.co/6QJBF0z0lx #Delicious
