As Twitchy reported, vague threats from people believed to be North Korean hackers have prompted five major U.S. movie theater chains to yank showings of “The Interview.” This news has left many Americans fuming. Among them is Judd Apatow. The prolific writer/director/producer has worked extensively with “Interview” stars Seth Rogen and James Franco, and he’s thoroughly disgusted by what he sees as abject cowardice:
I think it is disgraceful that these theaters are not showing The Interview. Will they pull any movie that gets an anonymous threat now?

What if an anonymous person got offended by something an executive at Coke said. Will we all have to stop drinking Coke?

We also don't know that it isn't a disgruntled employee or a hacker. Do we think North Korea has troops on the ground in the US? Ridiculous

This only guarantees that this movie will be seen by more people on Earth than it would have before. Legally or illegally all will see it.

He makes a great point.
Apatow also retweeted this message from Jimmy Kimmel:
. @JuddApatow I agree wholeheartedly. An un-American act of cowardice that validates terrorist actions and sets a terrifying precedent.

Absolutely.
@.girl_iowagirl20 @colemanranahan I agree but when we cave to threats it trains people to threaten us and it will hit other industries.

We may not see eye-to-eye with Apatow when it comes to U.S. politics, but on this matter, we’re right there with him.

I'm with @JuddApatow – pulling The Interview from theatres is shameful. In a sane world, bad guys don't get to dictate what we get to see.

@jimmykimmel @JuddApatow This nation is gripped by fear and stupidity. Hopefully this incident will spark a change for the better.
