Housley is sick and tired of the racialism that’s permeating the discourse surrounding the Zimmerman trial. To that end, he took to Twitter this morning to serve up some much-needed common sense:
Not taking a side. Not saying ZImmerman is innocent or guilty…stating the facts. People on both sides have used this case. #NotCool
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@BiancaDune I just think this whole case is sad in so many ways.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@pamela_rucker1 Didn't say it was the same. You did. Said there are no winners here…no matter the outcome. That is true.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Melania1226 That's complete bull. He is not white. Stop trying to make this a black white issue.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Melania1226 So my race is white and my ethnicity is english/irish/scottish/italian/german ?? LOL
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
Again…not saying Zimmerman is innocent. Saying this is being made racial by people who want it to be racial. That is what's sad.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
Exactly.
@Melania1226 You can separate it any way you want to. Calling someone a white hispanic is completely wrong
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Melania1226 I speak spanish and grew up in a heavily hispanic area. Spent a ton of time covering stories in Latin America.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Melania1226 Never…ever…heard anyone who is latino identify themselves as "white hispanic".
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@illiam_william @Melania1226 That is ridiculous
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Senoyani Don't let emotion obscure what I said….not comparing losses in any way.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@karice78 You said it better than I did/could
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Melania1226 It's the government and people who use race as a political weapon…who have decided to label everything.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
Bingo!
@illiam_william @Melania1226 It says 'white non hispanic'….big difference
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Melania1226 My Hispanic friends….all agree with me. Of course that is completely unscientific
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@mzhoov That is bull. You can live/believe that and let society hold you down and feel threatened. I will not allow him to live that
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Vincent2050 I would argue that he would have.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Vincent2050 and that's wrong in all ways. I am not in any way defending what happened by the way.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@mzhoov And I have seen the opposite to. I just look at the glass half full and leave the naysayers to share their half empty glass.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Melania1226 You are…and that should be celebrated. You are not white hispanic tho. 🙂
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@mzhoov So have I…usually because of dress and actions tho…not because of color. Doesn't mean they were doing anything wrong.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@mzhoov Disagree. We are closer than you think. We are letting a very, very small group separate us. Color does not matter to me/most I know
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@doperahwinfrey It is up to me. I will teach him. You are allowing people to see you that way. People have thoughts about me too. Don't care
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@mzhoov That is not a fact. Sorry.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@doperahwinfrey And the thought process that everyone is against them has done worse.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@whypdw Unless that child is behind bars for life. Again..not comparing the two, but both families are suffering here. Differently.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Melania1226 My brother is married to a Fillipina and my wife is black….I get it.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@mzhoov and I have white/hispanic friends with tats and "looking like trouble" who were some of the nicest people in the world
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
ok…so we can debate race and all that. Simple question. guilty or not…and of what? Take emotion out and give me an answer.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@mzhoov Of course! But in order to change their minds, don't give them reason. Keep looking ahead, not side to side. They will b left behind
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@MusicLovHer @MissNocePR not saying you want it to be…others do tho…for their own gain. This was not black v. white.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Itsekirisqueen Niiiiiiiiiiice. Very classy.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@doperahwinfrey All sorts of profiling is happening. Look at the IRS for heaven sakes.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
Oh, snap.
@Senoyani So if I agree with you I am on the right page?
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
I am going to say…if the jury finds him guilty it'll be manslaughter. Just looking at the facts. Curious to see how this jury will rule
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Senoyani Nope. Not torn. Just don't let racial baiting or emotion get me. I get called a lot of stuff for being in an interracial marriage
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@Itsekirisqueen That's the best you can do? Enjoy Lagos. My best friend is from there.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
Housley’s call for honest discussion predictably didn’t sit well with the tolerance brigade:
Wow…so we talk race and I lose 12 followers. Funny. #practicewhatyoupreach
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
But something tells us that’s no big loss.
@neela028 No kidding! Everyone just needs to relax.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@itsRA1N I actually agree with your point.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
@traymel @Senoyani As soon as we stop allowing people to divide us.
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) July 12, 2013
Hear, hear!
@RedKnightNJ In my life its the people who try to claim you are racist, or have race issues…that are truly the racists.
