CBS sportswriter: Only 'Uncle Tom' Native Americans not offended by Redskins' name

CBS Sports’ “NFL insider” Mike Freeman has a problem with the Washington Redskins: their name.

Earlier this week, ten members of Congress wrote to the Redskins’ owner, the NFL commissioner, and others, urging a team name change. Feeling the P.C. spirit, Freeman saw fit to pen a ridiculous piece of his own, suggesting that “Redskins” is on par with the N-word and that Native Americans not sharing his outrage are “Uncle Tom American Indians.”

From Freeman’s screed:

If the Redskins were called the N-Words, then all of these hypocritical African-American Washington fans, who back the use of Redskins, would suddenly understand if the team was called the Washington N-Words.

So, from now on, let’s call them that, and pull from our rectums that the word is used to honor blacks.

Sure, there will be some Uncle Tom American Indians who will say Redskins honors them, just like there were some Uncle Tom blacks who once didn’t mind being called colored.

Ugh. He went there.

For a guy professing to be concerned about ethnic groups’ feelings, he sure is good at insulting perceived race traitors. What’s up with that?
