This morning, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper made good on his promise and signed gun control legislation into law. The new laws will expand background checks, impose background check fees, and set a 15-round limit on ammunition magazines.
Confirmed: all three #GunControl bills have been signed by @hickforco. #COleg

To Hickenlooper and Colorado Democrats, the Second Amendment is evidently just an outdated concept. But gun rights advocates don’t see it that way, and they’re taking this assault on their constitutional rights very seriously:
@9NEWS @BrandonRittiman @hickforco to bad applause from politicians does not equal approval from the citizens

Sad day in Colorado and Constitutional history.
Just because you can, doesn't make it right.

With this stunt, Hickenlooper could find himself facing a steep uphill reelection battle:
Landmark #cogungrab bills signed. Shame on @hickforco for letting NY take over. Keep our eyes on 2014. @Magpul_HQ http://t.co/dWbbTIZSMe

@hickforco #iwillnotcomply you have overstepped your authority & deliberately trashed the constitution. I vow to make sure you're voted out.

Earlier this week, Boulder-based gun accessories manufacturer Magpul confirmed its plans to leave Colorado if the ban on high-capacity magazines went through.

“@hickforco: Job growth is up.”
What will happen to job growth when @magpul_hq pulls out of CO?
— Doc Baker (@JohnFromCO) March 20, 2013
But Magpul won’t be the only business affected by the new laws:
Remember: It's not just @Magpul_HQ leaving thnx to CO #magban. Suppliers, subcontractors, adios==> http://t.co/5eDtJwu6tG

Weld County Sheriff John Cooke, knowing full-well that these laws are ridiculous, has already said he won’t enforce them. Will others follow his lead?
