Rev. Jim Wallis to Pamela Geller: Shut up or the Islamists will get really angry

As Twitchy reported last week, cable news commentator and proud vandal Mona Eltahawy defaced a New York City subway ad sponsored by blogger Pamela Geller. Geller appeared Sunday on WABC-TV, where she debated liberal Rev. Jim Wallis over her anti-jihad message. She ably defended herself from criticism from both Wallis and from the host, but her logic didn’t seem to get through to the morally weak Wallis:

Wallis’ response to Geller? “Please stop talking.” To cowards like Wallis, free speech needs to take a back seat to feelings. While Geller made clear in the interview that she takes issue with radical Islam and jihad, and not with all of Islam, Wallis insisted that Geller’s views are far more harmful than those of radical Muslims. Moreover, Wallis suggested that Geller’s vocal defense of free speech will prove to be more harmful to Christians than radical Islam. Perhaps he should try making that case to the countless Coptic Christians who have been slaughtered at the hands of Islamist thugs.

How does Wallis propose that we combat the threat of Islamist terrorism? Why, with feel-good posters, of course!

Mona Eltahawy hasn’t commented on the interview via Twitter, but it’s a safe bet that she agrees with Wallis that the best thing Geller can do is remain silent:

(Geller is demanding equal time following an interview in which Eltahawy went on CNN and branded Geller a racist and a bigot.)
