Donna Brazile walked onto Bill Maher’s set ready to lecture everyone about Trump and Iran.
Shocker, I know.
She went after the administration’s Iran campaign for supposedly lacking a plan and a finish line, as if the last several decades of nuclear talks, sanctions, and proxy wars never happened. The audience got the full performance, complete with the pointing and the furrowed brow.
Then Senator John Fetterman answered, and the room shifted.

He reminded everyone that Democrats have spent years insisting Iran must never get a nuclear weapon. He noted that Kamala Harris herself treated that threat as her top international priority while she was running. He said he supports the current effort outright.
The applause that followed was not subtle.
That is the part that sticks with me. Fetterman has been the consistent Democrat on this for months, voting against repeated attempts to tie the president’s hands while his colleagues demand votes that change nothing on the ground. He has called the strikes on enrichment sites appropriate and framed the choice in plain terms: stop the bomb or do not. Brazile’s complaint treats the objective as optional the moment the means become real.
I keep coming back to the gap between the old talking point and the new objection.
If the bomb was the emergency when it was useful in a debate, it does not stop being the emergency once action starts. Fetterman is simply refusing to pretend otherwise, hoodie and all, while the rest of the party tries to have the position and the distance from it at the same time.
All because TRUMP BAD.
The clip makes the contradiction impossible to miss, and the reaction in the studio suggests plenty of people noticed.
