Sadly, Matt Walsh is back at it with another take engineered for maximum outrage clicks, this time reducing the very real, often debilitating struggle of postpartum depression to little more than a character flaw.
By framing the exhaustion and despair so many new parents face as primarily a failure to “subordinate” their own needs, he’s brushing past the documented hormonal crashes, sleep deprivation, and physiological upheaval that medical experts have long recognized as major drivers.
It’s the kind of lazy, oversimplification that generates heated replies while doing nothing to help anyone actually dealing with it. And with the way he begins his post, he knows this already.
A lot of people aren't going to want to hear this but much of the "depression" that parents (and not just moms) suffer after child birth is due not so much to hormones but to the fact that children, especially babies, are demanding and difficult and require us to subordinate our…

What?
This is especially true of Lindsay Clancy, who in fact had more far help, and was getting far more medical and psychiatric attention, than the average person. But ultimately nobody could solve her "depression" because its real source was a selfish hatred of her children. No drug…

We get that he opposes making excuses for Lindsay Clancy and we'd agree to a POINT. But claiming PPD is fake is not the way to do it, bro.
This ain't it.
And people's reactions to his posts prove it.
My wife is an extraordinarily selfless person, an extremely hard worker, and was incredibly excited to become a mother. PPD still hit her like a truck. What is even the point of this? pic.twitter.com/R9Qczo8zZg

Clicks and taps.
This is an awful take, Matt. The worst PPD I had was after my 2nd baby. 2nd in 2 years, so there wasn't a significant change in my needs being subordinate to another's. I had a horrific last month of pregnancy and baby was in the NICU 2 weeks. Both my 1st and 2nd bouts with PPD…

... ended the day I got my period back. It went from desperate darkness to nearly normal overnight. It IS the hormones. And sleep deprivation. My third baby has been my least bad PPD because she's sleeping well. I want Lindsay Clancy to get the death penalty, btw, so you don't get to demonize me for saying this. Your tirade against Lindsay has begun to extend in a cruel way to women who have brought life into the world and struggled. I'm calling you out for it.
And Abby is not alone in doing so:
I appreciate much of your work Matt but since you've not experienced pregnancy hormones on top of a lack of sleep, and the demands of motherhood, you have no idea what you're talking about.

You have absolutely no idea what hormone shift feels like. I’m not a supporter of Clancy in any way but a sleep deprivation, hormones and worse pharmaceutical mismatch on top of this was a recipe for disaster. Sometimes I wonder if you intentionally take the most narrow minded…

You don't have to support that absolute monster Clancy to know that PPD is very, very real.

Oh. Then please explain how the clinical depression I had for 25 YEARS before my child was born magically didn't affect me after she was born.

Guess this person was just too selfish or something.
Yeah, that's it.
Oh, my mother was hospitalized for selfishness after giving birth to her ninth child. pic.twitter.com/fTg24zdGWP

Respectfully, as I've liked several of your takes lately ...this is the kind of take from you that drives me nuts.

Having six children and one wife (who I imagine are lovely), is not representative of even a small sampling of the world. Acting like this gives you a deep medical…
Respectfully, Walsh should take this ridiculous claim down BUT we all know he won't.
