It’s surely a sign of the end of times … we agree with Sally Kohn. But when it comes to NBC and their BS, lackluster way of dealing with predators like Matt ‘Had a Button Under His Desk to Lock Victims In His Office’ Lauer, she’s spot freaking on.
Time to stop protecting monsters because they might agree with you politically.
Noteworthy that NBC fired Matt Lauer amidst reports that New York Times has been investigating Lauer "for weeks." These companies seem to only be taking action not because of what they know but because it might become public. Sickening. Shame on them.

Would appear NBC was more concerned about bad PR than the women who were being harassed and assaulted.
And double shame on The Today Show.
The Today Show pushed out talented women. It kept Matt Lauer around for years. https://t.co/5CTAVfteYr

From Vox:
Lauer had been a constant presence at Today since becoming co-anchor in 1997, even as his female counterparts have rotated — there was Katie Couric as his co-anchor, then Meredith Vieira, Curry, and finally Guthrie.
Today had fought hard to keep Lauer around. He is one of the highest-paid men on television, reportedly signing a new $20 million-a-year contract with NBC last year.
$20 million dollars … and they knew.
At @Variety, @RaminSetoodeh & I had been working on a Matt Lauer story for months and NBC was aware. There are multiple women we've spoken to with far-ranging accusations against Lauer. The power of journalism has never been more evident with this cultural change.

Hollywood. D.C. The Media.
Power corrupts.
Matt Lauer was a $25 MILLION DOLLAR A YEAR ASSET to NBC. Weinstein was a powerhouse. Spacey was a mega star. Billions of dollars were riding on them. You know the decisions to cut ties weren't made lightly, nor on light evidence.

The consequences these men face have nothing to do with allegedly rash decisions of their superiors but everything to do with WHAT THESE MEN ACTUALLY PERPETRATED. None of which could in any decent and remotely just society be written off as "flirting."

Nice dig at Geraldo, who definitely had it coming.
There is a HUGE difference between a hug in the hallway and some monster locking you in an office so he can violate you.
Shame on NBC.
