While it’s true Cruz didn’t say the exact words, “I endorse Donald Trump for president,” didn’t the things he said overall support Trump and the GOP?

He did indeed.
"Congrats Donald, Hillary's awful, don't stay home in November, vote your conscience" isn't exactly a ringing rebuke of Trump.

Not an unkind sentiment there, nope.
From this morning:
Cruz on voting for Trump: If we want to win this election, that's the only way we're going to do it.
— John McCormack (@McCormackJohn) July 21, 2016
And then directly from his speech …
There is a profound difference between our two parties' vision for the future #RNCinCLE
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) July 21, 2016
Truth. And Trump IS the GOP nominee so Cruz was reminding everyone (even the Anti-Trump crowd) of the differences between parties and why Republicans must prevail.
Hillary Clinton believes govt should make virtually every choice in your life, but voters are overwhelmingly rejecting big govt #RNCinCLE
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) July 21, 2016
Yup, Hillary stinks. Big government stinks. Cruz has also said many times he will NOT vote for Hillary.
Just like each and every one of you, I want to see the principles in which we believe prevail in November #RNCinCLE

Why would folks think this is a dig at Trump?
If we stand together and choose freedom, our future will be brighter. We can do this. #RNCinCLE
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) July 21, 2016
Cruz calling for unity within the party.
To those listening, please don't stay home in November. If you love our country, stand and speak and vote your conscience #RNCinCLE
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) July 21, 2016
Whether we like it or not, there are Republicans/Conservatives who will not vote for Trump in November, and Cruz was right to implore them to vote down ticket. Again, is this a bad thing?
Thank you and may God bless each and every one of you! #RNCinCLE https://t.co/TxXSUNFpfF pic.twitter.com/6jWxlddj2u
