Jim Brown is considered one of the best players in NFL history. But many fans don’t know that he also played lacrosse while at Syracuse.
Because of his interest in the sport and ties to Long Island, Brown is part of an ownership group that has purchased the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse.
The Lizards are currently 1-2 this season but have had a pretty rocky year. They missed the playoffs last year, previous owner Scott Rosenzweig passed away in February and the team’s top draft pick, Rob Pannell, broke his foot early in the season and has applied for a medical redshirt rather than graduate and join the Lizards.
Fan support for the Lizards, in a lacrosse hotbed, has waned. Brown will be at the Lizards game Friday night, and the idea is that his presence will increase interest in the team.
