As Twitchy reported, actress Ally Sheedy of “The Breakfast Club” called out James Franco during the Golden Globe Awards with several (now-deleted) #MeToo tweets. “James Franco just won. Please never ever ask me why I left the film/tv business,” she wrote in one.
Now another actress is calling out Franco with her own #TimesUp tweet, but she’s not getting a lot of support in return.
Hey James Franco, nice #timesup pin at the #GoldenGlobes , remember a few weeks ago when you told me the full nudity you had me do in two of your movies for $100/day wasn't exploitative because I signed a contract to do it? Times up on that!

Um …
So why did you do it https://t.co/oQ7QoukcIk
— bonnie zimmerman (@bonniez45) January 8, 2018
So you read and signed a contract… I don’t think that’s how this works https://t.co/lwzECa7LmV

I'm confused. I thought the left was trying to get us all to sign contracts for every sexual act and now I'm told that even that's not enough? I pity the schmucks who have to live in this crazy cultural environment. https://t.co/Kuh78uhW2Q

So basically someone said "Take your kit off and I'll give you 100 bucks" and this one was like "Alrighty, cool". https://t.co/P5SJJBfnA5

"I signed a contract to do a nude scene and it exploited me so I said fuck it and did another! Now off to twitter to complain!" https://t.co/wkIyFZZ2Fh

If you don't want to do full nudity in movies, don't sign contracts to do full nudity in movies. I can't imagine a clearer case of consent than a signed contract to do something. https://t.co/2ygNjbD9Vr

Oh god. You signed a contract. You have 4 jobs. You weren't forced into that role. Pick your battles better… https://t.co/qsPLlCzsZF
— Brain full of Brian's (@Zolenski) January 8, 2018
If you signed a contract and knew about it,,, is it really exploitive? Like I know you can give consent and then take it back whenever you’re uncomfortable but I mean if u were still trynna get your money and you did it, then it sounds like you only did what you signed up for?? https://t.co/Jq7zOxjN2w

Looking for an example of how misunderstanding the difference between being taken advantage of and wishing you had made a different choice? Look no further than a woman who won’t take accountability for knowingly entering into a contract that she later regretted. https://t.co/DO3I4whOuq

So you read a contract, agree and sign said contract, and then yell victim after the details of the contract are fulfilled? I hate this movement https://t.co/sZ1ej74sFC

Can someone explain this? Cause I’m confused??? If you get paid for nudity… and signed a contract… you’re being exploited???? https://t.co/srj5WDmfbG

For those who don’t understand, a few supporters stepped forward to help explain.
The replies to this are so awful and prove we have long way to go to understand how gender discrimination and abuse of power works. #timesup https://t.co/LP6Urn7X7T

Dozens of horrible replies claim that since she signed a contract, it can’t be exploitative.
I’m only a 1st-year law student about to begin my 2nd semester this morning. But yes, the law does consider imbalances of power in determining whether a contract is oppressive. https://t.co/k0lAEBAHsg

Tither-Kaplan followed up her original tweet — a lot. Here is a selection:

If you are a true #male #ally then you wouldn't mansplain and then ask me to "clarify" before you believe me. Thanks though!

No, you wanted to discredit my story. Your aim was not benevolent. Take care!
— Sarah Tither-Kaplan? (@sarahtk) January 8, 2018
People in my mentions telling me to "stop complaining" and "get an agent": I've literally been trying to get a theatrical agent since I was 13 years old. I'm 26. I work my ass off. It's not easy. Nothing has ever been handed to me, I have to take what I can get.

When you are a struggling, unrepresented, non-union actor who doesn't have a trust fund, life is very different than for an actor who is known, union, and repped. I don't have the luxury of turning down jobs.
— Sarah Tither-Kaplan? (@sarahtk) January 8, 2018
I rely on powerful people to help me, because I don't have access to opportunities without them. If they choose to abuse their power and take advantage of my need to work, that isn't my fault. It's the fault of the abuser.
— Sarah Tither-Kaplan? (@sarahtk) January 8, 2018
I don't sit around waiting for handouts. I have 4 day jobs. Living in LA and pursuing a career in film and TV is extremely expensive. I also have massive student loan debt.
— Sarah Tither-Kaplan? (@sarahtk) January 8, 2018
If a famous actor who has the ability to make or break my career with the snap of his fingers offers me a part, I don't have bargaining power. I need work. I need to eat. I need a career. I can't afford to say "no".
— Sarah Tither-Kaplan? (@sarahtk) January 8, 2018
And if I do say "no" to an offer, or even try to negotiate for myself, I risk getting labeled as "difficult", "ungrateful", a "diva", and never getting another opportunity again.

Seems Fox News — sorry, F*x News — picked up on Tither Kaplan’s story.
Apparently F*x News has sent some of you here. Just want to make sure y'all know I'm queer as hell and hate our racist sexual predator president. Racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, sexism, and homophobia are not tolerated here. Also, I love abortion rights. ?????? Don't @ me
