Kobe Bryant scored 42 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Los Angeles Lakers to overcome the Oklahoma City Thunder in Monday night’s 106-90 loss in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals in Oklahoma City.
The early exit brings the future of the team into speculation, which has several question marks heading into the offseason.
The one that fans nationwide are focusing on is the underwhelming play of Pau Gasol. The Spaniard averaged 12.5 ppg and 9.5 rpg in the playoffs, a far cry from the 18.3 and 10.8 he posted during the Lakers’ title run in 2008-09.
Most NBA experts are in agreement that Gasol will be traded.
Fans are playing along on Twitter, but they don’t seem to know the true value of an All-Star power forward.
