As Twitchy told you earlier today, Bob Costas is set to return to the anchor seat at the Sochi Olympics tomorrow. Many viewers wish NBC would spare them more suffering and they’ve got an alternative. Veteran sports journalist Al “Do You Believe in Miracles?” Michaels interviewed Russian hockey player Vladislav Tretiak earlier today. They reminisced about the 1980 Olympic hockey match that remains etched in the minds of millions of sports fans around the world. Both men showed class as they discussed the historic moment; Tretiak recalled how he was yanked from the game.

Al Michaels interviewing Vladisov #Tretiak about Lake Placid was perhaps the best 10 minutes of this Olympics coverage.

Al Michaels interviewing Vladislav Tretiak about the Miracle on Ice may be the best thing NBC has ever done … ever.
