America united: Melissa Etheridge's 'Imagine' cover was awful start to 2014

My first memory of 2014 will always be Melissa Etheridge butchering John Lennon's song "Imagine"

The reviews of Melissa Etheridge’s cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” are in. And they are not just not good. They’re brutal. Left, right, and center agree: New Year’s needs a reboot.

Glad Melissa Etheridge isn't still singing "Imagine." Would have ruined 2014.

Why on earth is Melissa Etheridge the lead performer right now in Times Sq doing a really bad version of Imagine just before Mid? Weird!

If listening to Kathy Griffin wasn't hard enough, #CNNNYE then trots out Melissa Etheridge to vomit all over Imagine. Nicely done #CNN

1hr1min: Zombie John Lennon rises from grave to track down Melissa Etheridge and eat her face off so she never sings 'Imagine' again

— kingdaddy (@kingdaddy) January 1, 2014

Heh:

"Imagine no possessions…" Etheridge surrounded by every ad in the universe in Times Sq.

— Adrienne Day (@adrienneday) January 1, 2014

Ouch:

That was lovely. Melissa Etheridge finished singing "Imagine" just as the ball containing John Lennon's spinning grave was dropped.

Imagine there was no “Imagine” and let’s start over again.

Seriously!!! No John Lennon's Imagine! I call bullshit! Melissa Etheridge should NEVER EVER sing it again. #NewYearRuined
