Caleb Hammer is a podcaster who helps people dealing with financial issues. He makes the advice entertaining, but he's also full of wisdom.
Apparently telling people to pack a sandwich was controversial… I’d like to address that. https://t.co/vSTGv7W8bK

Some people clearly don't appreciate his advice. This advice seems sensible, but too many people believe every whim should be satiated and they 'deserve' daily decadence.
I’m Mary Katharine and I approve this message

The thing about financial success is it often requires denial to self. It demands putting off short-term wants for long term goals. Finally, one must turn down things they really want to do for things they need to do. Nothing about self-control is easy.
I'm preaching to the choir, of course. I work two jobs and if I don't watch myself, I can spend more and more and never save. That's a trap too many Americans find themselves in.
Wait, that was my idea. I do have some great sandwich ideas. Homemade sandwiches can be quite good.
— Ellie A (@EllieGAnders) October 26, 2026
This is the way. Make sandwiches yummy again.
Hammer genuinely seems like an honorable guy who legitimately wants to help people. He didn't shame or scorn younger people like how boomers do when they yap to us about finances. No "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" bullshit. He's not disassociated like them. Just "pack a sandwich". Literally nothing wrong with that suggestion.

He's very good at what he does. He is very blunt, however, and many people don't appreciate that.
Omg. The snark is lovely

Don't we all? It's part of the reason we have a poverty and obesity issue in the United States.
People love to beat up on Dave Ramsey but a lot of people swear that Ramsey saved their financial lives. I think Hammer's advice is probably somewhat better on net, but does anybody take it or do they just enjoy watching him yell at people?
— Oliver Sherouse (@OliverSherouse) October 27, 2026
If people are not taking his advice, they should be. He can lead a horse to water, but he can't make it drink.
Let's get the idiots online in a tizzy again about the merits of packing a lunch to (Brace yourself) SAVE $!

It seems they still haven't learned a lesson.
@sircalebhammer I pack my husband a sandwich, I think that still counts?

Now the commenters are getting nasty.
@partridgeTX Well, 3 at a time
— Caleb Hammer (@sircalebhammer) October 26, 2026
But Caleb takes it all in stride.
The struggle out there is real even for those of us who shop for groceries. The Wagyu strip steak at Farmer Joe’s market is now $64 lbs. I have resorted to drastic measures like buying the Wagyu only when it’s on sale, buying regular bourgeoisie NY strip, eating more pork. I have even been as desperate to buy a steak at Publix. Publix, for god’s sake!

Group hug in the comments for our fellow traveler.
@sircalebhammer Really this is fantastic. The amount of people that just rely on getting food delivered baffles me.
