Letters From the Basement: Afghan Girls Risk Arrest to Learn : Then Hand CBS Their Plea for Help

CBS was given access to a school meeting in a basement in Afghanistan. The school allows young women to be educated. This is no longer allowed under Taliban rule, so it's very dangerous. Each of the girls wrote a letter and gave it to CBS to share with the world. This is their voice.

We went inside a secret school in Afghanistan, where more than 30 girls risk being arrested for gathering in the basement of a private home to continue their education under Taliban rule. As we were leaving, their teacher handed CBS New's @ImtiazTyab 21 letters the girls wrote by… pic.twitter.com/nOlEqukvWT

The letters are heartbreaking and show what happens to women under radical Islam.

I missed this.

Good for CBS News for tackling this topic and giving these girls a voice. Much of the world has forgotten about them and just accepted the complete depletion of their rights in Afghanistan. https://t.co/jmZOaIEz4S

This is why many Americans warn against allowing radical Islam to get a foothold in America. It's a slippery slope.

It was all funny and fun games and planted media questions until it wasn't https://t.co/CwqTlmItaf pic.twitter.com/BOeIkCkoOI

These young women just want basic freedoms like learning and the ability to get a job.

One of the biggest crimes is using our faith to stop the formal education of girls in Afghanistan.

It goes against everything we believe in.. https://t.co/hUf6L1zMYD

A Letter to the World, from an Afghan girl.

I am one of the millions of people living on this earth. Every day, I see so many people going through their lives with hope and fear, happiness and sadness. Like everyone else, I dream of a life that is fair and full of kindness.… https://t.co/pHAQT2sZUp

These young women just want the same rights women throughout the world have every day.

Your people are miserable @MoFA_Afg

These girls are risking everything to share their plight with the world.

Baffles me how we (the West) have watched the Middle East basically become an unstable war-torn clusterf**k of a region as a direct result of Muslims doing what their repulsive holy text commands for decades on end...

and decided it was a good idea to welcome them here. https://t.co/mPTLd4FeXe

American Leftists have fooled themselves into believing that Islamic leaders in the United States would never do these things. They underestimate the goals of radical Islam.
