'They Don’t Know What They’re Talking About’: Homan Schools Pope on Immigration’s Brutal Human Cost

Tom Homan had the perfect response to the Pope. It's easy to say 'just be nice to the illegals' when you don't have to face the parents of child who was sexually abused or even killed by an illegal.

Religious leaders shouldn't make government policy and the government shouldn't interfere with church affairs.

That seems only fair. Why meet with only one side of the aisle?

Homan sees the unfortunate consequences from a lax immigration policy.

The MOST loving thing to do is to have laws and enforce them. Particularly law that protect women, children and the disabled, the most vulnerable. In the Bible, Jesus tells us to pay special attention to these groups:

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:27

The Bible tells us these people deserve a covering because they lack the covering of a husband and father. This is when government and first responders fill an important need. Part of keeping people safe is secure borders.

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” – Psalm 82:3

At first glance, one might think this is a Scripture the Left could use to throw open the doors to economic immigrants. That's hardly the case in my view. There are poor people in America right now. Look at the place my Father came from in Eastern Kentucky, for example. Those places are ghost towns and could use a government influx of cash to revitalize the area. They don't need more competition from low wage workers.

The Pope must understand it is the first priority of the American government to protect American citizens. The rich and middle class don't need protection in the same way as the working poor, the elderly and the disabled. Open borders hurt those people the most. They deserve a government working for them, too.
