Many people do not have to work today. Many government offices are closed today. The reason? It's Good Friday. America is made up of many Christians who observe Good Friday, so many places in America shut down today.
Not Houston. Well, they closed today, but their explanation is um, unique.
Due to the Spring holiday weekend, City of Houston offices will be closed on Friday, April 3. pic.twitter.com/Qr5fiYuu54

The Spring holiday weekend? That's a new one. Why is this particular weekend a 'holiday' in Spring? Why aren't other weekends during Spring celebrated as a holiday? Make it make sense.
You mean Good Friday, right?

Do better, @houmayor. https://t.co/kXXDeMNl2Y
That's exactly what they mean. They are apparently just afraid to say it.

Unbelievable.@HoustonTX can't even write the words "Good Friday", "Lent", or "Jesus Christ" but they're sure to never miss a celebratory Eid post...

Celebrating Islamic holidays is always perfect and wonderful.
Spring Holiday?

It’s Easter.
Just say it’s Easter.
The word Easter never harmed anyone.
Easter. #HeIsRisen https://t.co/1rBrfqM1os

In fact, Easter saved the world.

Given all of the Ramadan celebrations we have seen across the U.S., the refusal to NAME GOOD FRIDAY as the “holiday” we are observing on Friday is atrocious, and an OBVIOUS STATEMENT by our elected officials. @AmyMek @RAPHOOPTX @houston_cf https://t.co/xrRfgOo1X8

It's very clear they have no respect for Christians and hate Christianity.
Houston, we have a problem.

Not a spring holiday; it’s a Holy Day. #GoodFriday https://t.co/Z0KozKblLZ

There is not now, nor has there ever been, a Spring Holiday.

It's Easter. Say it. Easter. https://t.co/nCAsAUPxQx

It's Good Friday Holy Saturday and Resurrection Sunday , NOT "the spring holiday weekend" https://t.co/1ixpIpR393
Anything to avoid honoring a Christian holiday.
