We Owe Charlie Kirk Better: Honoring His Legacy Instead of Betraying It

AP Photo/Ross D. Franklin, File

The time after the tragic death of Charlie Kirk could have been a time of uniting the Right and fighting back against the depravity and violence of the Left. It could have led to discussions about trans youth and how these ideologies are turning young people into monsters. It could have led to more open conversations about violent rhetoric and how different political parties can disagree without threatening the lives and livelihoods of their opponents. It could have led to more discussion about conservative ideals and why they are inherently better. Why choosing family and children is the more rewarding path and believing in God and further submitting yourself to His work is the real reason we are on this floating rock. Instead, in the hours after it was announced he was murdered in front of an audience and cameras, the Left devolved into cackling monsters cheering on his death and the Right, led by Candace Owens, turned into conspiratorial maniacs hell bent on crucifying Charlie's wife for some reason. I will never undersand it.

It's truly hard to believe. In the week after his death, I saw young people sharing clips of the hard conversations Charlie engaged in and people were listening to him. Really listening. Of course, there were the psychos on the Left still labeling him a racist and a bigot, but so many more were hearing, really hearing, his message for the first time. It gave me so much hope in such a sad time. Now what I see brings me nothing but grief.

Charlie talked about loving your wife and honoring your children by being an upstanding Father. He did his part while he had the chance. In turn, his 'friends' have spread rumors about his beloved wife and have given her absolutely no chance to grieve. It is the height of depravity. People I considered my friends, people who under normal circumstances are thoughtful and level headed, are private messaging me the most inane nonsense and conspiracy theories. The Right needs to touch grass desperately. It's easy for us to say the Left is crazy, and they are, but some on our side need to reflect on their own outrageous behavior.

Let's hope some of that light starts to prevail and starts to drown out forces that seek to only do harm.
