When we talk about gender dysphoria in kids, we often focus on their ability to procreate later on if they are allowed to take puberty blockers. While that is obviously a huge concern, today's events in Minnesota indicate there is even a greater threat to public safety. What are these drugs doing to young people causing them to then lash out against the public?

When a young person presents with gender dysphoria, rather than trying to treat the illness, doctors and therapists get to work pumping them full of hormones to match their delusion. After all of that, there is no evidence there is a lower suicide rate among those who transition than those who don't.

Guns aren't the problem. Access to weapons when someone is very mentally ill is a huge issue. The answer is not taking guns and the ability to protect ourselves from the general public. It's time for Medical Associations, Psychiatric Doctors, and other Stakeholders to come together and get very honest about this issue.

This isn't about believing in preferred pronouns or not (although the case can be made using preferred pronouns legitimizes mental illness). It's about being very honest about the harm of the drugs.

In 2013, the DSM-5 replaced "Gender Identity Disorder" (GID) from DSM-IV with "Gender Dysphoria" (GD).
