Unless you live under a rock or took a total break from social media today, you know Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. This announcement has been met with shrieks of joy, kind messages, and also eye rolling and sighs of despair. To be sure, during the NFL season, all the Taylor and Travis talk can be annoying and distracting. I get it. For this one day, and maybe a few more, however, I suggest we all should celebrate any time a young couple gets engaged and takes part in the ancient institutions that are the bedrock of our society.

As usual, Ben is exactly right. Taylor Swift is beloved. Girls want to be just like Taylor Swift. This is exactly the good PR marriage needs.

Also, same!
This is unironically an excellent thing. I hope many other single people follow their example. https://t.co/i8REm4DN8R

I am so, so happy that Taylor is signaling to her massive audience of young women that marriage is a good thing and is something to which young people should aspire. It’s very silly but I hope this helps, even in some small way, to bridge the divide between young men and women. https://t.co/ufppCiTqRR

I have a 19 year old daughter and I can attest to how weird dating has become. She is a lovely girl who loves Jesus and is going to college. She's athletic and fun and what more could a young man want? As someone who has to witness her dating woes, I am here to say young men treat dating with little regard. They don't follow through with plans, they put in no effort and even if the date goes well, they probably will never call again. America needs all the good role models we can get.
Yeah I’m not going to dunk on people rediscovering the institution initiated by God Himself. https://t.co/tD4mX2SY4w

Absolutely, mock celebrities when they act like weirdos. When Nick Cannon has his 15th kid by a new woman, that should be roundly discouraged. Marriage between one man and one woman should be cause for celebration.
All the single petulant man-hating women who like Taylor Swift seeing her marry an alpha winner is good for civilization.

Will be funny to watch them cope and seethe as she has kids. https://t.co/kjIRnMxKne
Travis is a strong man with his own successful career. This is just what men should be.
Good hopefully many young women follow suit and understand that being married and starting a family is a good thing.

Maybe there is a Swifty marriage boom followed by a baby boom? That would be a good thing https://t.co/0TrHmGlPWu
Wouldn't that be wonderful? Hopefully, Travis and Taylor plan to have a boatload of kids like Jason Kelce.
