Viral Mardi Gras Dancing Video Divides Conservative Twitter in a Truly Odd Debate

Ever since a video of some teenage girls dancing in Louisiana with their Stanley Cups went viral, a section of conservative Twitter has become simply embarrassing. It feels like the Puritans from days of old have time traveled to the year of our Lord 2024 and are ready to assign Scarlet A's to any and all women not barefoot in the kitchen.

This is the video in question along with one of the many drawn out emotional tweets about said video. To clarify a few things. These are high school girls in their small hometown celebrating a particular event during Mardi Gras. Anyone who is around teens these days knows girls of this age are rarely without their Stanley cups and there is also no indication they are drinking alcohol. The singer is a man named 'Mr. Weatherall' a popular local music artist. So, these young people are at the gas station dancing to some fun music and this has turned into days of labored prognostication over what is wrong with America's young women.

Who said any of these women are looking for a man? They are young. They should pursue education and focus on high school graduation.

Absolutely. These same men complaining about this video also bemoan how fat American women are. These young women are fit, bright eyed and getting exercise. These 'men' should love this display. Instead, they have to find something to criticize because deep down they know these women would never be interested in them. Perhaps, if these men got off Twitter for a few hours, went out and learned to make friends whilst volunteering in their community, they would not be so bitter.

The most ironic part of this take? If we check back in with these young women in ten years, many of them will be raising children as stay at home moms and love that life. Life has stages and right now, carefree with little responsibility is exactly how one should spend their Senior year of high school.

Well, at least one is, but I digress.

Again, none of these women will have any difficulty finding a husband when she is ready. In fact, I expect young men will line up to date any of them. They are fun, cute, fit, friendly and educated. They are bringing plenty to the table. On the other hand, this weird criticism of young women having fun will push young people away from conservative politics as it is off putting and strange. Normal people find this hyper-fixation on 'Western Women' uncomfortable and  repellent. Instead of expanding the conservative tent, it seems these scolds instead want women to wear tents to match their religious fanaticism. It's a terrible look and it's 'giving Taliban' as the young people would say.
