Peter Kassig is a former U.S. Army Ranger and an American aid worker who was kidnapped by ISIS in Lebanon. He has reportedly converted to Islam in captivity and has taken the name Abdul-Rahman Kassig. Fox News reports that in the video of the beheading of British citizen Alan Henning, Kassig was identified as the next hostage to be executed.
Kassig’s mother Paula is using Twitter in an attempt to reach out to the ISIS leader personally in order to negotiate for her son.

There are some differences. Kassig is not a POW. He was kidnapped as a civilian whereas Bergdahl reportedly left his military post to seek out his captors.
