The Department of Labor is apparently looking for real life “Julias” to sell the President’s idea to raise the minimum wage.
28M Americans would benefit from a min. wage increase. Amanda from WA is one of them: http://t.co/Vk14w6Tw9y pic.twitter.com/N8LeepA4hP

According to “Amanda from WA’s” guest post, she works two jobs to make ends meet.
President Obama’s proposal to increase the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 per hour would benefit 28 million hardworking Americans and I’m one of them. My name is Amanda DeShazo, I live in Tacoma, Washington and I have two jobs. Currently I work as a sales associate at a retail store making $9.84 an hour and as a server to support myself and pay off my student loans.
Here we have a college graduate who is working retail and food service to eke out a living and the President wants you to believe her problem is that the minimum wage is too low. Maybe the fact that she graduated into an economy with no decent jobs might be something that should be addressed? Nope, that’s just the new normal.
If raising the minimum wage to $10.10 is the answer, why not raise it to $20.10? Or $30.10?
The point that struck people though was how little Amanda pays for rent.

Amanda goes on.
An increase in the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would allow me to work only one job and remain financially stable. With the extra money in my pocket, it would be a relief knowing that I wouldn’t have to work as much.
Because who wants to work? Small business owners and entrepreneurs aren’t likely to have a lot of sympathy for her.
@USDOL – Amanda's debt to income level seems to be a problem. Maybe Amanda made some bad choices??

We’re betting one of those bad choices was voting for Barack Obama.
