FLO-RED-A: The Florida Senate race is FINALLY over with Rick Scott prevailing by over 10,000 votes

After nearly two weeks of recounts and lawsuits, it is over in Florida.

Gov. Rick Scott has officially defeated incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson to win the Sunshine State’s U.S. Senate seat and ensure that Florida will now have two Republican senators and a GOP governor.

After realizing he has no options remaining, Nelson has called Rick Scott to concede.

According to the CNN report, Nelson gained about 2,570 votes on Scott as a result of the manual recount, which was well short of the 12,603 he needed to make up.

It’s been a while since Florida had two Republican senators.

Nelson is expected to make a statement later today officially suspending his campaign.
