Amid numerous calls by Democrats to pause the Supreme Court confirmation hearing for nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell remains steadfast that the process will continue as originally scheduled.
In just a few days, @senjudiciary will begin hearings for Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the #SCOTUS. pic.twitter.com/5ebQXR54XJ

To the dismay of many Democrats, “He’ll be confirmed sometime before the first Monday in October” sounds pretty definitive.
McConnell’s silence is deafening. And his spinelessness is breathtaking.

And a bunch of other whiny Democrats.
This morning I reiterated my call for the Republican majority to delay Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings. #WhatsAtStake pic.twitter.com/fIZkTs4ljN

Recommended
I will not take a meeting with Brett Kavanaugh. He has been nominated by someone implicated, and all but named as a co-conspirator, in federal crimes.
His nomination is tainted and should be considered illegitimate.

Alabama’s @SenDougJones calls for Kavanaugh confirmation process to hold off at least until October, when the National Archives will produce documents, so his full WH record is available for review, in light of yesterday’s “bombshell” convictions. https://t.co/vMxy7PxCvo

Given the expediency with which Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to the court last year, one would have to imagine that seating Kavanaugh before October would be a big plus for Republicans, particularly senators, in the November midterm elections.
Which is exactly why Democrats want to stop it from taking place.
