Clapper was asked to address what Brennan said about his statement that Trump’s Helsinki Summit press conference with Russian president Vladimir Putin being “nothing short of treasonous” didn’t really mean that Trump was acting in a treasonous manner.

Perhaps a major motivation for Clapper to distance himself from Brennan is the fact that his own security clearance is also under review by the Trump administration, according to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
