71st anniversary of VE Day: Several world leaders commemorate the defeat of Nazi Germany

On May 8th, 1945, the Allied Forces received the unconditional surrender from Nazi Germany, effectively ending hostilities in the European theater of World War II. Several world leaders took time today to commemorate the 71st anniversary of this great victory for freedom.

Absent from the world leaders remembering VE Day is President Obama. Thus far, the president has yet to make an acknowledgement.

It is still remarkable to think about the dedication and commitment the Greatest Generation had for this nation, many of whom paid for our freedom with their lives. We must never forget them.
