2022 Oscars Hosts Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes wasted no time getting polical on tonight’s broadcast with a shot at GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell over “toxic masculinity.” Or something. It really made no sense.
Transcript:
Regina Hall: You know, this year we saw a frightening display of how toxic masculinity turns into cruelty towards women and children.
Wanda Sykes: Damn that Mitch McConnell.
And watch for yourself:

But then they also decided to take a shot at Florida and the state’s new parental rights bill, with Sykes declaring “For you people in Florida, we’re going to have a gay night. “Gay, gay, gay, gay”:

Well, of course, she didn’t read the bill:

Wanda Sykes didn’t read Florida’s bill. It literally doesn’t say that.

And here’s the pitch-perfect response from Gov. DeSantis spox Christina Pushaw:
Florida will never recover from this 😅 https://t.co/PDZzamxPDv

But, after that “joke,” the camera panned to John Travolta who is now trending on Twitter:
That was a shady pan to John Travolta after the intro’s last joke

And he did not look happy:
John Travolta did not like that joke.

He is a Floridian, too:
Floridian John Travolta did not laugh at the "gay night" joke. #Oscars

But many blue-checks liked the decision FWIW:
Cutting to John Travolta after the Florida joke was a piece of directing gold. #Oscars

Cutting to John Travolta after that gay joke was A CHOICE #Oscars

Cutting to John Travolta in the say gay joke is quite good. #Oscars

Travolta is presenting later tonight. His wife, Kelly Preston, died from breast cancer in 2020, so maybe these blue-checks should sit this on out?
John Travolta's kids are supporting him as he presents at the #Oscars this year! Meet Ella and Ben. https://t.co/wNJugthx2Z
