Whoopi Golberg apologized for her comments about the Holocaust on Monday. . .
— Whoopi Goldberg (@WhoopiGoldberg) February 1, 2022
. . .but she also went on Stephen Colbert’s show and somehow made it worse:
Whoopi Goldberg went on with Stephen Colbert and…doubled down on the Holocaust being about "white on white" crime, and not race.
Unreal.

Watch for yourself:
Oy. @WhoopiGoldberg should have stuck with her written statement. This gets worse as it goes on. I can’t possibly recommend more highly that she (& all of us) do the work & read @Isabelwilkerson’s #Caste. Then, let’s talk.https://t.co/eYqPzqb4ss
— Jeremy Burton (@BurtonJM) February 1, 2022
Great job, everyone!
In which Whoopi Goldberg apologizes, then with Steven Colbert's help, essentially doubles down https://t.co/sfKM5EWcmt
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) February 1, 2022
WTF is she even talking about?
Whoopi telling Colbert that a Jewish person wouldn’t run from the KKK because you can’t “look Jewish”…now I’m officially brain dead. I am out
— Tori Mason (@ToriMasonTV) February 1, 2022
And her written apology wasn’t so great:
You quoted yourself, then you quoted the partisan head of the disgraced ADL, misspelled "waver" and offered barely anything else. You and your PR team had hours to come up with something better https://t.co/mEaOJlVfFm

Based on what she said to Colbert, it’s not clear she knows this *yet*:
How in the hell did you not already know this? I've known this since I was in the third grade, you sloppy blowhard. @WhoopiGoldberg https://t.co/qpcmCyeBY3
— Nick Searcy, INSURRECTIONAL FILM & TELEVISION STAR (@yesnicksearcy) February 1, 2022
Maybe she’ll get it on the third try?
Here's what you also said about the Holocaust, @WhoopiGoldberg: "This is white people doing it to white people — y'all go and fight amongst yourselves." You denied that antisemitic racism led to 1/3 of the world's Jews being murdered.
You need to do more than "stand corrected." https://t.co/2Ptke7CdNy
— Jeff Jacoby (@Jeff_Jacoby) February 1, 2022
She needs to address this on the show, too:
A Twitter apology by @WhoopiGoldberg is a good first step.
Now let's hope it's followed up by the same on the show tomorrow, where a larger audience, who heard your original statement, will also get to hear the apology for your universalizing the murder of six million Jews. https://t.co/JQbxnjBPcM
— Joel M. Petlin (@Joelmpetlin) February 1, 2022
And we’ll point out that Goldberg is being treated just a tiny bit differently than Ilya Shapiro:
Watch who will immediately accept this apology but not @ishapiro's https://t.co/y1dTDK5exM
— Fusilli Spock (@awstar11) February 1, 2022
Their rules and all:
LOL.
Lets note: Twitter apologies don't matter. THEM THE RULES. https://t.co/pLwMmX7xt8
— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) February 1, 2022
Heh:
Whew good thing she's not teaching at Georgetown Law or buddy there would be such the uproar right now. https://t.co/b0TdVtK4K9
